Signature Theatre presents the world premiere of The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek, written and directed by Athol Fugard. The production began performances on April 21 and will now run through June 7 in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). The Actors Fund's annual gala last night, May 11, 2015 honored Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman and three-term mayor of New York City, entrepreneur and philanthropist Michael R. Bloomberg, Founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies. Bloomberg and Freeman received The Fund's Medal of Honor, the highest award given by the 133-year old non-profit human services organization serving everyone in performing arts and entertainment. The NYU Tisch School of the Arts annual gala honoring Michael C. Hall, Steven Lutvak and Robert L. Freedman, with a special tribute to Mel Silverman, was held last night, May 4, at the Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall. The evening was hosted by Anna Deavere Smith and featured special presenters Tyne Daly, and Winnie Holzman. The gala performance, directed by Bill Castellino, celebrated the incredible accomplishments of Tisch students, both past and present. The Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway announced the nominees this morning for the 2014-15 season. The first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season, the organization is celebrating its 64th season of bestowing awards of excellence in the field of theater. The Outer Critics Circle is an association with members affiliated with more than ninety newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations, Internet, and theatre publications in America and abroad. The Public Theater just presented a special 40th anniversary tribute to A CHORUS LINE last night, April 16 in honor of the first performance of this legendary musical that premiered in The Public's Newman Theater 40 years ago and went on to make musical theater history. To commemorate this landmark event, the cast of the critically-acclaimed musical HAMILTON, currently playing on the same Newman stage, presented original cast members of A CHORUS LINE with a plaque that will hang in the Ford Foundation Lobby of The Public. The Broadway transfer of The Royal Shakespeare Company's Wolf Hall: Parts 1 & 2 began previews on March 20, 2015 at the Winter Garden Theatre, with an opening set for tonight, April 9, 2015. Wolf Hall: Parts 1 & 2, which explores the deceit, betrayal, and intrigue of the court of Henry VIII, is written by Dame Hilary Manteland adapted by Mike Poulton. This special event invites theatergoers to be part of a unique theatrical experience, similar to the Royal Shakespeare Company's award winning production of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. The Public Theater presents the New York premiere of BUZZER, written by Tracey Scott Wilson. BUZZER marks the return of Wilson to The Public following her acclaimed The Good Negro in 2009 and The Story in 2003. Directed by Obie award winner Anne Kauffman, BUZZER will run in The Public's Martinson Theater through Sunday, April 26, with an official opening last night, April 8.

Kate Baldwin and Conor Ryan, the stars of the Keen Company production of John & Jen, the musical with music by Andrew Lippa, lyrics byTom Greenwald, and a book by Greenwald and Lippa, just headed to the recording studio to preserve the 2015 Off-Broadway Cast Recording for Broadway Records. A June 16th release is planned. Andrew Lippa and Michael Croiter will produce the album. Musical Director is Lily Lang. This recording will include the premiere of the new song, 'Trouble with Men,' as well as new orchestrations and two songs from the score never before recorded.
