The theater community just reunited in Times Square exactly one year to the day since Broadway shut-down for 'We Will Be Back,' a special live pop-up experience and commemoration of Broadway's 'lost year.'

On an average day, approximately 330,000 people pass through Times Square. Not today. As the the current global health crisis continues, the Crossroads of the World is desolate. 

We're all missing Broadway, but the shows must go on. We turned to the experts on social distancing for help. Until the shows are back up and running, these cats will be taking over some of your favorite roles. Read on as some of the cutest felines in the heights get their big break!

Rehearsals are underway for Roundabout Theatre Company's New York premiere of Birthday Candles by Noah Haidle, directed by Vivienne Benesch. The new play will star Emmy Award winner Debra Messing as 'Ernestine,' Andre Braugher as 'Matt' and Enrico Colantoni as 'Kenneth,' Crystal Finn as 'Joan/Alex/Beth,' Susannah Flood as 'Alice/Madeline/Ernie,' and Christopher Livingston as 'Billy/John.'

The Second Stage Theater production of Richard Greenberg's Take Me Out is in rehearsals and will begin previews April 2, 2020 and officially open on April 23, 2020 at Second Stage's Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street). The cast just met the press and BroadwayWorld was on hand for the big day!

Roundabout Theatre Company presents the world premiere of 72 Miles to Go..., by Hilary Bettis, directed by Jo Bonney. 72 Miles to Go... opened officially on Tuesday, March 10. This will be a limited engagement at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street).

Just last night, Off-Broadway's The New Group honored its Board President Abby Merrill and Erica Schmidt and Peter Dinklage (Cyrano) at the its Annual Gala, this year celebrating the company's 25th Anniversary.

Rehearsals are underway for the Broadway revival of David Mamet's American Buffalo, which begins previews on March 24, 2020 with an official opening on April 14, 2020 at the Circle in the Square Theatre (235 W 50th Street). This is a 16-week limited engagement through July 12, 2020.

Just last night, Atlantic Theater Company presented their 35th Anniversary Gala, Couples' Choice, at The Plaza (768 Fifth Avenue). This year, Atlantic asked a few exciting power couples to choose a song they love and their favorite musician to perform it.

The new stars of Frozen on Broadway: McKenzie Kurtz, Ciara Renée, and Ryan McCartan, along with continuing stars Ryann Redmond and Noah J. Ricketts attended a press meet & greet at Sardi's earlier today.

Paula Vogel, director Mark Brokaw and How I Learned to Drive cast members Mary-Louise Parker, David Morse, Johanna Day, Alyssa May Gold and Chris Myers attended a meet and greet for the show! 

James Cromwell is currently starring in Grand Horizons on Broadway. Yesterday, February 27, he was honored with a portrait at Sardi's!

MCC Theater will soon present the World Premiere of Nollywood Dreams by Jocelyn Bioh (MCC Theater's Burnt Umber Playwright-In-Residence) with direction by Saheem Ali. The cast will feature Charlie Hudson, III (A Raisin in the Sun), Outer Critics Circle and Lortel Award nominee Nana Mensah (Man From Nebraska), Sandra Okuboyejo (Hamilton, Chicago), Ade Otukoya ('Shades of Blue'), Emana Rachelle ('Insecure'), and Abena Mensah-Bonsu.

Directed by Matthew Dunster, Martin McDonagh's Hangmen is currently in rehearsals, ready to begin performances on Friday, February 28, 2020, and officially open on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Broadway's Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street).

Cambodian Rock Band began performances on February 4 and opened just last night, February 24 on the Irene Diamond Stage at the Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street). The production is a limited engagement through March 15, 2020.

The Broadway Theatre was the place to be last night as talents from stage and screen gathered to celebrate opening night of Tony Award winner Ivo van Hove's new production of West Side Story.
