by Alix Cohen (New York City)

(4/25/2015) - Attending a multilingual performance at Cafe Sabarsky in The Neue Galerie (86th Street and Fifth Avenue) is like stepping back in time. The room speaks to an era of higher refinement, not stuffy, but encouraging pedigree and brio. by Jeff Davis (San Antonio)

(4/25/2015) - There are some shows that are ageless. Kiss Me Kate is one of them. The Cole Porter musical, while 67 years young, still entertains with ease, and Texas State University's current production of it showcases all that makes the show great.

BWW Reviews: I'M NOT RAPPAPORT Is More Than Worthy of Its Encore ProductionBWW Reviews: I'M NOT RAPPAPORT Is More Than Worthy of Its Encore Production
by Jeff Davis (Austin)

(4/25/2015) - It's become a trend, both locally and nationally, for theater companies to reprise a production several years later with the same cast. Of course, if a show gets an encore, it better be deserving of it. In the case of Austin Playhouse's I'm Not Rappaport, the encore is more than well deserved, and its two stars put on a veritable master class in acting.

BWW Reviews: OUT LOUD Theatre Immerses the Audience in Brilliant RHINOCEROSBWW Reviews: OUT LOUD Theatre Immerses the Audience in Brilliant RHINOCEROS
by Robert Barossi (Rhode Island)

(4/25/2015) - Theater is often at its best when it is unconventional. Surprising. Innovative. While there is certainly merit in sticking to the old-fashioned and traditional ways of doing things, there's also great value in doing something new and outside-the-box. The success of doing so depends on many things, from the technical aspects of a production to the ability of the actors to create and tell the story in ways the audience can relate to, even in unfamiliar trappings. So far in the short lifespan of OUT LOUD Theatre, the company has excelled in doing just that, masterful storytelling that is delivered in creative and exciting ways.

by Jeff Davis (Austin)

(4/25/2015) - The only thing more disappointing than a show that completely bombs is one that is astoundingly good in some areas but misses the mark in others. That's exactly the case with The Robber Bridegroom, now playing at the Mary Moody Northen Theatre at St. Edwards University. While the show is visually stunning, the music tuneful and complex, and some performances are wonderful, the show misses many an opportunity to land a joke.
