Pandora Productions to Present THE BOYS IN THE BANDPandora Productions to Present THE BOYS IN THE BAND
by BWW News Desk - Dec 15, 2015

Pandora Productions continues the 2015-2016 season with an oldie but a goodie. Mart Crowley's The Boys in the Band is the quintessential 'gay' play, breaking down boundaries and exploring new topics in its Off-Broadway run of over 1000 performances in the Spring of 1968. Before Boys, gay men were 'fops' and 'dandies' but this play changed it all. Since it was on stage a full year prior to Stonewall, Boys proved to be quite prescient in retrospect. Some historians have said that the play's production in advance of Stonewall set the stage for the events that unfolded there, gays would no longer be kept in the closet. The dark comic play explores issues of self-loathing, internalized homophobia, racial biases and more. (more...)

Bww Review: FAC's WAIT UNTIL DARK an Engrossing ThrillerBww Review: FAC's WAIT UNTIL DARK an Engrossing Thriller
by Christi Esterle - Oct 18, 2015

Vampires, slasher killers, and paranormal activity are all well and good, but for my money nothing beats the chills of a good suspense story. Uncertainty and the fear of the unknown are immensely engrossing narrative devices, compelling you to follow along even as you dread what might come next. So Wait Until Dark is, for me, the ideal Halloween experience: a tense, unsettling thriller rooted in relatable fears and all-too-human monsters. (more...)

BWW Review: Yellow Tree Theatre's Production of the Irish Classic DANCING AT LUGHNASA Will Leave You With A Warm and Wistful FeelingBWW Review: Yellow Tree Theatre's Production of the Irish Classic DANCING AT LUGHNASA Will Leave You With A Warm and Wistful Feeling
by Jill Schafer - Oct 1, 2015

Irish playwright Brian Friel's DANCING AT LUGHNASA is a perfectly lovely play, and a wonderful choice for the perfectly lovely Yellow Tree Theatre. The eight-person cast is actually on the large side for their cozy and intimate space nestled inside an Osseo strip mall, but the warm, humorous, and melancholic tone is a perfect fit. It's a beautiful play and a beautiful cast, and will leave you with a warm and wistful feeling. (more...)
