The NOLA Project to Present ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, 9/4-21

As the first of five productions in its 10th anniversary season, local independent theatre company, The NOLA Project, will present the stage adaptation of the classic story, 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. 'JACQUES BREL', CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, MR. BURNS and More Set for ACT's 50th Anniversary Season

ACT - A Contemporary Theatre under the Artistic Direction of Kurt Beattie is proud to announce the Mainstage productions taking place in the 50th Anniversary Season in 2015. The mid-century mark will reflect ACT's contribution to the field throughout history and looking to the future with the theme, What Was, What is, and What Will Be. 2015 brings cause to celebrate two other milestone anniversaries: ACT will celebrate the 40th year of producing founder Gregory A. Falls' adaptation of A Christmas Carol, as well as the 90th anniversary of the 1925 Fraternal Order of Eagles building, ACT's historic landmark home since 1996. Commemorative celebrations and engagement opportunities will occur throughout the year. A brief history of ACT's founding is included following the season titles. (more...)

Florida Studio Theatre to Stage HAIRSPRAY, Begin, 11/12

"You can't stop the beat" at Florida Studio Theatre, as the Winter Mainstage season opens with the multiple Tony award-winning Broadway musical, Hairspray. This vivacious production features the largest cast to ever grace the Gompertz stage. A Contemporary Theatre to Stage West Coast Premiere of Ayad Akhtar's THE INVISIBLE HAND

A Contemporary Theatre announces the west coast premiere of writer/actor Ayad Akhtar's The Invisible Hand, about an American investor kidnapped by a militant group in Pakistan. Akhtar won the Pulitzer Prize in 2013 for his play Disgraced, which opens on Broadway this fall. The Invisible Hand premiered at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis studio series in 2012. Since then, Akhtar has continued development on the script, added a character, and he will participate in the creative process as the show develops in Seattle, spending time in the rehearsal room and audience preview process. The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for the World Premiere of Bright Star, a new American musical featuring music by Edie Brickell and Steve Martin, lyrics by Brickell, and book by Martin, based on an original story by Martin and Brickell. Directed by Walter Bobbie, Bright Star will run September 13 - November 2, 2014 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Rehearsals start today at The 5th Avenue Theatre for one singular sensation: the celebrated Broadway triumph, A Chorus Line. NNPN Unveils Twelve Productions of Three Rolling World Premieres

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces its 44th, 45th, and 46th Rolling World Premieres: Nathan Alan Davis' Dontrell, Who Kissed the Sea, Andrew Hinderaker's Colossal, and William Missouri Downs' Women Playing Hamlet will receive a total of 12 productions through the Network's Continued Life of New Plays Fund in the 2014/15 season. Seattle Shakespeare Company Celebrates 13 Continuous Seasons of Financial Success

After closing out the financial records for Seattle Shakespeare Company's 2013-2014 season, Managing Director John Bradshaw announced that the company ended the year in the black with revenues of $1.6 million, a record high for the company. 6 - a new musical with book, music and lyrics by Zack Zadek (additional lyrics by Gina DePalo), will receive its European premiere at the Space on North Bridge, Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2014 with previews at London Theatre Workshop 27th - 28th July. Zack is one of America's youngest and most promising composers having 6 - a new musical selected by New York Musical Theatre Festival and featured in 2012. Staircase Theatre presents Movin' On Up-Staged Readings. In its inaugural year, Movin' On Up will feature two brand new one act plays by two local, emerging (and very talented) playwrights, Scott Button and CR Packer. Scott Button's play, Better is a claustrophobic thriller and a dissection of class in our contemporary world. Better features Vancouver theatre veterans, Dawn Petten and Katherine Venour. CR Packer's play, Avril, Finally revolves around a funeral and three men brought together in unlikely circumstances. Avril, Finally features the talents of Sebastian Kroon, Byron Noble and Robert Salvador. The two plays will be directed by local directing star, Chelsea Haberlin.
