Before Broadway's biggest night on Sunday, June 7th, 37 productions will have opened on Broadway in the 2014-15 season. Of those productions, 10 were eligible for Best New Musical and 11 were eligible for Best New Play at the 69th Annual Tony Awards. In these new plays and musicals, 213 actors made their Broadway debuts in new shows. (more...)

The Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) have announced Corey Mitchell, Theater Arts Teacher at the Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, N.C., as the winner of the inaugural Excellence in Theatre Education Award. This year's finalists were Marianne Adams, Director of Education at the Grandstreet Theatre School in Helena, Mont., and Donald Hicken, Theatre Department Director at the Baltimore School for the Arts in Baltimore, Md. Clear Channel Spectacolor, a brand division of Clear Channel Outdoor Americas (CCOA) (NYSE:CCO), in partnership with Tony Awards Productions and The Times Square Alliance, today announced that Justin Guarini (Wicked, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, American Idiot, Romeo and Juliet), Deborah Cox (Aida, Jekyll & Hyde) and Jeanna de Waal (Kinky Boots, American Idiot, national tour of Wicked) will perform during the seventh annual simulcast of the Tony Awards in Times Square on Sunday, June 7th.  Guarini, co-executive producer, and Cox, a GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum selling singer and entertainer, will also host the simulcast event. The Tony Awards today announced that more than 175 performers will join Josh Groban on-stage for a special performance - the most performers in a single number in Tony Awards history - at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday night for the 69th Annual Tony Awards. The 2015 Tony Awards will broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, on CBS, on Sunday, June 7th 8:00 - 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT time delay) and are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
