This year's recipients are: Amphibian Stage Productions (Fort Worth, Texas), Ars Nova (New York, New York), Forum Theatre (Silver Spring, Maryland), Keen Company (New York, New York), PlayGround (San Francisco, California) , Red Bull Theater (New York, NY), Rogue Machine Theatre (Los Angeles, California), The House Theatre of Chicago (Chicago, Illinois), the TEAM (Brooklyn, New York), Theater Wit (Chicago, Illinois), Theatre B (Fargo, North Dakota), and Williamston Theatre (Williamston, Michigan). American Theatre Wing's Annual Gala Raises Record-Breaking Amount

The American Theatre Wing announced today that its annual gala, held this past Monday evening at the Plaza Hotel, was the most successful in the organization's history, raising over $750,000 (besting the previous record, which was set in 2013, by more than $50,000). All proceeds from the evening will benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing, which include SpringboardNYC, the Theatre Intern Network, the National Theatre Company Grants and the Jonathan Larson Grants, and will also support free access for students, aspiring professionals, and the general public to programming on AmericanTheatreWing.org, including the long running 'Working in the Theatre' media program. American Theatre Wing, Village Voice Form New Partnership for Off-Broadway's OBIE Awards

The American Theatre Wing has entered into a partnership with the Village Voice to co-present The OBIE Awards, Off Broadway's Highest Honor, it was announced today. The Wing will take overall responsibility for running the OBIES, effective immediately, under the oversight of a newly formed OBIES Administration Committee (comprised of both American Theatre Wing and Village Voice representatives). The selection process will be overseen by this Administration Commitee, but will continue under the chairmanship of Michael Feingold. Judges will be appointed and approved by Feingold and the Administrative Committee. As part of the partnership, the Village Voice has licensed the OBIE trademark to the American Theatre Wing for an initial period of ten years. The upcoming Obie Award Ceremony - the first presentation under this new partnership - will take place in May 2015 and will mark the Award's 60th anniversary. (more...)

Ralph Lee's 'THE DANCING FOX' Starts This Weekend at St. John the Divine

Ralph Lee's Mettawee River Theatre Company will return for its annual September season in the lovely Outdoor Garden of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine with 'The Dancing Fox: Wisdom Tales of the Middle East,' five enchanting tales from the shared folk traditions of Jews and Arabs, including the writings of Sufi mystics, along with fables and folklore of the region.
