'A Whole New World' kicks off the summer youth program with Aladdin JR., based on the iconic animated film and featuring an Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. Soar to new heights on a magical, flying carpet ride filled with romance, adventure and hilarious hijinks. When street urchin Aladdin vies for the attention of the beautiful princess, Jasmine, he uses a genie's magic power to become a prince in order to marry her. Iago, Jafar, the Genie and more beloved characters come to life in this fantastical musical that celebrates the power of love and friendship. Aladdin JR. is directed and choreographed by Carolanne Marano, with Musical Direction by Miriam Arichea. The production opens July 7 and runs for 5 performances only through July 9. (more...)

With book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, the original 1957 Broadway production ran for over 700 performances before going on tour, and garnered 6 Tony nominations. The Pazinski family returns to Circle's stage in King O' the Moon by Tom Dudzick, the second play in a trilogy inspired by the author's childhood. Circle produced Dudzick's Over the Tavern in 2005 and The Last Mass at St. Casimir's in 2007.  Ten years after Over the Tavern, this sequel takes place during the rebellious '60's as Apollo 11 is on its voyage to the moon. The Pazinski's come together as their lives seem to fall apart. Prior knowledge of this working-class family is not a prerequisite to appreciate the hilarious and heartfelt end to the three part series at Circle. (more...)

Nettle Creek Players, a 501c3 not-for-profit arts organization, on Monday, June 19 will welcome to Hagerstown a troupe of visiting professional theatre artists who will live in the community for five weeks as they prepare and present the Nettle Creek Players 2017 Summer Stock Tent Theatre Season featuring productions of THE FANTASTICKS, THUMBELINA, BROADWAY ON MAIN STREET, and the NCP Young Actors Musical Theatre Workshop.  Performances of THE FANTASTICKS will be at 7:30pm on July 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 & 22 with BROADWAY ON MAIN STREET at 2:00pm on July 9, 16 & 23 and THUMBELINA at 11:00am and 1:00pm on July 15 & 22, 2017.  The Workshop will be offered from July 11-23, 10:00am-3:00pm.  (more...)
