Park Square opens its brand new Andy Boss Thrust Stage next month with Sandra Cisneros' THE HOUSE ON MANGO STREET. In a new adaptation by Amy Ludwig, THE HOUSE ON MANGO STREET paints a moving portrait of Esperanza Cordero, a 'yellow weed among the city cracks,' who dreams of a better, safer life far from her Chicago barrio. The Chicago Tribune called Cisneros' work '...a cascade of memory...one of the finest books penned about finding, understanding, keeping, leaving and (eventually) returning to your place.' (more...)

Lyric Stage Company of Boston Names New Managing Director

At its September meeting, Equity's National Council passed a resolution to support a member mobilization and communications effort. Casting has been announced for the San Diego engagement of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, playing at The San Diego Civic Theatre from October 21-26. The cast of JERSEY BOYS will be led by Nicolas Dromard (Tommy DeVito), Keith Hines (Nick Massi), Hayden Milanes (Frankie Valli) and Drew Seeley (Bob Gaudio) as The Four Seasons, with Barry Anderson and Thomas Fiscella. Theatre Bay Area Announces TBA Awards Finalists

Theatre Bay Area (TBA), the nonprofit service organization for theatre and dance in the Bay Area, has announced the finalists (http://www.bit.ly/1wJKIkY) for the inaugural year of the TBA Awards. This new, peer-adjudicated awards program has been created to celebrate artistic achievement in professionally oriented theatre across the entire Bay Area. Garth Fagan Dance Comes to Ebony Rep, 10/3-5

Ebony Repertory Theatre announced today that Garth Fagan Dance will return to Los Angeles after an absence of ten years. The company's program includes the Los Angeles premiere of excerpts from 'Lighthouse/Lightning Rod,' a collaboration of the company's Founder/Artistic Director Garth Fagan, Wynton Marsalis and California-based visual artist Alison Saar. 'Lighthouse' opened the Brooklyn Academy of Music season in 2012. Performances at the 400-seat Nate Holden Performing Arts Center (4718 W. Washington Blvd.) in Los Angeles will run October 3-5, 2014. The acclaimed author of Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde and The Laramie Project explores genius, obsession and the ability to connect against all odds. Edwin Strout and Karen Landry* play Ludwig van Beethoven and Dr. Katherine Brandt, separated by a continent and a century, but little else. Hillbarn Theatre Extends FUNNY GIRL Through 9/28

Due to overwhelming ticket sales and critical acclaim, Hillbarn Theatre has announced that an extra week of performances will be added to the current schedule of the 2014-2015 season opening performance of Funny Girl. Originally scheduled to close on Sunday, September 21, tickets are now on-sale through Sunday, September 28. Funny Girl will perform at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City). A CHRISTMAS CAROL Returns to Chambersburg, Tickets on Sale 9/8

Tickets for Totem Pole Playhouse's holiday presentation of A Christmas Carol at the Capitol Theatre in downtown Chambersburg will go on sale to the public beginning Monday, September 8th along with gift certificates for the show. Bilingual Play THE LONG ROAD/EL LARGO CAMINO DE HOY Opens 9/19

Two years ago, with funding from The James Irvine Foundation and in partnership with Latino Health Access, South Coast Repertory launched a play-development project in Santa Ana called Dialogue/Diálogos. The project captured the stories and memories of nearly 1,000 of the city's Latino residents, which created the core of a new bilingual play, The Long Road Today/El Largo Camino de Hoy,written by José Cruz González.
