Now Playing Onstage in New Hampshire - Week of 4/06/2014 LEO KOTTKE
Palace Theatre
In 1964, Leo settled in the Twin Cities area and became a fixture at Minneapolis' Scholar Coffeehouse, which had been home to Bob Dylan and John Koerner. He issued his 1968 recording debut LP Twelve String Blues, recorded on a Viking quarter-inch tape recorder, for the Scholar's tiny Oblivion label. Leo Kottke's 1971 major-label debut, Mudlark, positioned him somewhat uneasily in the singer/songwriter vein, despite his own wishes to remain an instrumental performer. Kottke later thrived during his tenure on Capitol, as records like 1972's Greenhouse and 1973's live My Feet Are Smiling and Ice Water found him branching out with guest musicians and honing his guitar technique. Kottke later collaborated with Phish bassist Mike Gordon on 'Clone' in 2002. They later collaborated on 'Sixty Six Steps.' Do not miss Two-time Grammy® Award Nominee Leo Kottke at the Palace Theatre!

Silver Center for the Arts
Using human cast members and a host of puppets that are openly manipulated by and feature the voices of the cast members, the long running Broadway hit Avenue Q is a delight. But don't be fooled by the puppets as the humor and story are strictly for adults. Princeton is a recent college graduate who moves to an outer borough of New York to find a job and, hopefully, meaning in his life. Although he hopes to live on Avenue A, where folks who have money, prestige and power reside, he eventually discovers that he must settle for Avenue Q, which is peopled with colorful characters all of whom are having a hard time making it in life. Now Playing Onstage in New Hampshire - Week of 4/06/2014 DEATH AND TAXES
The Village Players
In Hendricks, they're looking for a murderer. At the small-town, city council meeting, Mayor Kathleen Lyles boldly announces that the agenda will include an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the murder of the man who just happened to be an employee of the IRS. "Somehow I don't feel that bad!", says committeeman Carl Johansen. Slowly it becomes apparent the entire city council had seen the man, and each of them seems to be hiding something. Who murdered the stranger? Was it Cora Sedgewick, who was still dizzy at the time from stepping on a rake and being thumped in the face with its handle? Or newspaper editor Eddie King, who's right on the spot to report the facts, if he could only find a pencil? Or maybe the mayor herself, who was at city hall during off-hours? This ensemble cast is chock-full of small-town, colorful characters and hilarious dialogue. And, as an added bonus, there will be an element of audience participation, where the audience can not only see the scene of the crime, but also question the suspects.

Now Playing Onstage in New Hampshire - Week of 4/06/2014 JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
Stagecoach Productions
It seems especially fitting that the first rock opera, created as a concept album at the end of the turbulent '60s, should have at its center a social and political rebel. Jesus' meteor-like rise in renown provides, as the title suggests, a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship. As his radical teachings are evermore embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ's final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality. Propelled by a stirring score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart.Lyrics by Tim Rice; Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Seacoast Repertory Theatre
Puts rock music and the culture that went with it on stage. The show has a strong effect on everyone, and acts as a bridge between generations and viewpoints. This show has vitality, timelessness and a meaning that outlives the late 1960's and early 1970's in America.
