(3/31/2014) - The Arvada Center is making a bold move with its current main-stage production. The regional premiere of END OF THE RAINBOW follows Judy Garland during a six week run in London six months before her tragic death. While it includes many of Judy's actual arrangements of some of her most loved songs, it isn't a musical. It is a play with music. This week, 'In Focus' host Eden Lane takes viewers behind the scenes for some of the early rehearsals to meet the creative team and the cast. Click below!

(3/26/2014) - On February 6, 2006, people began lining up at dawn outside of Atlanta's Ebenezer Baptist Church to pay their respects to the late Mrs. Coretta Scott King, widow of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose body lay in state in the small sanctuary. People of all ages stood patiently for hours, waiting to say goodbye. Sometimes they murmured to each other quietly. Sometimes they shared memories of Mrs. King's extraordinary life and expressed sorrow at her passing. When a cold rain began to fall at sunset, those who had thought to bring umbrellas shared them with those whose resolve was the only thing not dampened by the drizzle. At close to midnight, the crowd had dwindled to a determined few. The five fictional characters in this play are at the end of that long line of mourners.

by Christi Esterle (Denver)

(3/23/2014) - Theatreworks sure knows how to set a scene. Last season, Everyman on a Bus had audiences boarding a charter for a literal and allegorical journey around the Colorado Springs downtown area. Now comes Venus in Fur, staged in an abandoned building on Tejon Street with blacked-out windows and a 'For Lease' sign over the door. Just walking into the space feels like taking part in clandestine activity.

BWW Reviews: FAC's AGNES OF GOD Captivates, Looks ForwardBWW Reviews: FAC's AGNES OF GOD Captivates, Looks Forward
by Christi Esterle (Denver)

(3/21/2014) - The performance on Thursday evening carried more than the usual share of preview jitters: lines were stumbled over, cues missed, and overall the performance did not attain the level of professionalism that the FAC is capable of providing...But in spite of this I was captivated, inspired both by the performance I saw and by what it had the potential to become. Because when Agnes of God works (and it did, more often than not) it's a thrilling mystery and an engrossing parable about faith, skepticism, and the psychology behind our deeply held beliefs. Encompassed by Christopher L Sheley's beautifully minimalist halo of a set, Levy and his cast take the audience on a journey into the dark uncharted territory of the human soul.
