Cincinnati Music Hall
WMKV and WLHS revive the glory days of Music Hall Ballroom with this big band concert and dance with The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. This 'One Night Only' engagement benefits public radio and features the national touring The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, now back in the room that hosted the great bands of the 1940's and 1950's. Listen and dance to The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra and create new history at Music Hall Ballroom -- Classic Big Band Music in a Classic Venue! The legendary Glenn Miller was one of the most successful of all the dance bandleaders back in the Swing era of the 1930s and '40s. A matchless string of hit records, the constant impact of radio broadcasts, and the drawing power at theaters, hotels and dance pavilions built and sustained the momentum of popularity. Due to the popular demand, the Miller Estate authorized the formation of the present Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1956 under the direction of drummer Ray McKinley, who had become the unofficial leader of the Army Air Force Band after Glenn's disappearance. Since then, other leaders have followed Ray including clarinetists Buddy DeFranco and Peanuts Hucko, trombonists Buddy Morrow, Jimmy Henderson, Larry O' Brien and tenor saxophonist Dick Gerhart. The band continues to perform all the many hit songs made famous by the band such as 'Moonlight Serenade', 'Sunrise Serenade', 'In The Mood', 'My Reverie', 'Little Brown Jug', 'Nearness of You', 'I've Got A Gal In Kalamazoo' and 'Indian Summer'.
