(10/31/2014) - The romantic and richly textured tale of East versus West, THE KING AND I, is now playing at The Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire, IL., where it opened on October 29, and will run through January 4, 2015. Nick Bowling (Juno and The Normal Heart at Timeline Theatre) makes his Marriott Theatre directorial debut with a fresh take on this Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, merging history and romance with today's social and political issues. THE KING AND I takes audiences on an uplifting journey of the power of education as characters transform from instructor to students themselves, learning from one another in the process. In consultation with the Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute of Chicago, Bowling and Choreographer Tommy Rapley will explore ancient Siamese customs, dance and traditions, and bring them to life on stage.

(10/27/2014) - Chicago born singer, cabaret performer, writer, lyricist and actress, Charlene Brooks, returns to the Skokie Theatre in Highly Seasoned, Saturday, Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. with a holiday reception featuring food and drink from Skokie eateries at 7 p.m. at the Skokie Theatre, 7924 N. Lincoln Ave. Brooks will be performing with her band, Dennis Luxion, piano; Jim Cox, bass; Jeff Thomas, drums and Jeff Jacobs, guitar. (10/27/2014) - Cor Theatre, the ambitious new Chicago company that first made its mark with Skin Tight at A Red Orchid Theatre in 2012, is returning with two major productions in the first half of 2015: the Midwest premiere of Erin Courtney's psychological thriller A Map of Virtue, hailed 'one of the most terrifying plays of the past decade' by the New York Times (January 8-February 14, 2015), and Love and Human Remains, the first Chicago professional production in nearly 20 years of the ground-breaking play originally titled Unidentified Human Remains and the Nature of True Love (June 4-July 11, 2015).

(10/27/2014) - Griffin Theatre Company launches its 2014-15 season with a new, intimate version of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical TITANIC, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston (Nine, Phantom), book by Peter Stone (Woman of the Year, 1776), new orchestrations by Ian Weinberger, directed by Scott Weinstein (Griffin Theatre's Spelling Bee, Chicago Shakespeare Theater's Seussical) and music direction by Elizabeth Doran (Timeline's Juno). TITANIC will play through December 7, 2014 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago.
