(10/1/2014) - A Radiohead musical is on its way to Chicago's Tympanic Theatre Company. A companion piece to Tympanic's critically-acclaimed play festival, Deliver Us From Nowhere-itself drawn from Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska-Today We Escape pairs twelve Chicago playwrights and directors to create an evening of theatre inspired by Radiohead's experimental album, OK Computer. Each writer will use a song on the record as the springboard for a short play before an ensemble of musicians composes original music based on the plays themselves. Like Deliver Us..., Today We Escape is a meditation on how art reflects art; a live album in the most unique sense of the word, and a celebration of music that is at times detached, yet strangely comforting.

Headlining the cast will be Chuck Spencer and JoAnn Montemurro as Joe and Kate Keller. These two Raven ensemble members, who earned accolades for their work as Willy and Linda Loman in Miller's Death of a Salesman and as Victor and Esther Franz in his The Price, will play Joe and Kate Keller. (9/28/2014) - David Yazbek has shown himself to be a Broadway composer-lyricist to be reckoned with, after a splashy debut with 2000's "The Full Monty," and a meaningful follow-up with 2005's "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." Both film adaptations, they won Drama Desk Awards for him, as well as Tony nominations. 2010's "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown", also a film adaptation, was Tony-nominated for its score as well, though it suffered a truncated run of only 69 performances. Theatre at the Center in the Chicago suburb of Munster, Indiana, is the location for the show's world regional premiere.

Adapted and directed by Isango co-founder Mark Dornford-May, The Magic Flute took London by storm, garnering London's prestigious Laurence Olivier Award. (9/26/2014) - Solo-performance group Sweat Girls have announced their latest stand-alone production, The Sweat Girls are ...21 and Finally Legal!, playing at the Heartland Studio, 7016 N. Glenwood Ave., today, September 26 - October 12. Celebrating their 21st solo-performance anniversary, the Sweat Girls consist of writer-performers Caroline Andres, Cindy Hanson, Dorothy Milne, Clare Nolan, Martie Sanders and Pamela Webster. (9/25/2014) - Steppenwolf Theatre Company launches its 2014/15 Subscription Season with the Chicago premiere production of The Night Alive by celebrated playwright Conor McPherson. Henry Wishcamper directs a cast featuring ensemble members Francis Guinan and Tim Hopper with Helen Sadler, Dan Waller and M. Emmet Walsh. The world premiere of The Night Alive was produced at London's Donmar Warehouse in 2013. The Night Alive began previews September 18, 2014 (opening night is September 28; press performances are September 27 at 3pm and September 30 at 7:30pm) and runs through November 16, 2014 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Steppenwolf's production will open on Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC)'s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre following its world premiere engagement in Chicago.

Mounted as an incubator for theatre projects currently in development, FWD's concert at City Winery featured a slew of performers bringing five new works to life, including the Muellers' take on the musical-in-progress EXPOSURE.
