Julianne Moore will portray Margaret White in the MGM remake of CARRIE, directed by Kimberly Pierce. The film will hit theaters on October 18, 2013. Below, check out the first teaser poster featuring Moore in the ominous role!

Chloe Moretz will play Carrie (originally Sissy Spacek), and Gabriella Wilde will play Sue Snell (originated by Amy Irving) in the reboot. Kevin Misher produces and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote the script.

The story is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name about a teenage girl dealing with everyday school life in the face of her overbearing, religious mother and burgeoning understanding of her telekinetic powers. The original film was directed by Brian DePalma and was recently translated for the Broadway stage.

Stage and film star, Moore starred on Broadway in The Vertical Hour in 2006 and was featured in The Hours, among many other acclaimed films and television series.
