The hit film "LES MISERABLES" had its Paris premiere last night, Wednesday February 6th, as part of Avenue Du Cinema Festival at Cinema Gaumont Marignan. Among those walking the red carpet were film stars Anne Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne as well as director Tom Hooper and producer Cameron Mackintosh. "LES MISERABLES" has grossed over $140 million in the U.S. since its release on Christmas day. The hit musical won three Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical, Best Actor to Hugh Jackman and Best Supporting Actress to Anne Hathaway. The film has been nominated for a total of eight Academy Awards.
Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, LES MISERABLES tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, Hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
