Bryan Cranston to Team with Steven Spielberg on ALL THE WAY TV Miniseries

At last night's 68th annual TONY AWARDS, Broadway's All the Way took home the prize for Best Play, while its star, Bryan Cranston (making his Broadway debut), came away with the award for Best Lead Actor in a Play.

Today, Deadline reports that the 'Breaking Bad' star will team with Steven Spielberg and his Amblin Entertainment to develop a television miniseries based on the play's story of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Written by Robert Schenkkan and directed by Bill Rauch, the Broadway version is officially described as follows: 1964: A pivotal year in American history-a landmark civil rights bill was passed, America began its involvement in Vietnam...and one man sat at the center of it all, determined to lift the country out of the ashes and rebuild it into The Great Society-by any means necessary. Hero. Bully. President. He played whatever part it took to win the day. It's not personal, it's just politics.

No further details on the TV project have been revealed, however Deadline reports that there is a possibility the miniseries will also incorporate Schenkkan's new play, The Great Society, which picks up the story of LBJ following 1964.
