Grande Lakes Orlando To Host Harvest Celebration
JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes Orlando announces a very special Harvest Celebration at the resort's new on-site Whisper Creek Farm on Saturday, November 16. Guests and locals alike are invited to join in this first-of-its-kind dinner to celebrate the resort's 10th anniversary this year and its continued commitment to farm-to-fork dining. The Harvest Celebration menu will be led by Chef Melissa Kelly, a pioneer in sustainable cuisine, whose award-winning restaurant PRIMO at JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes was the inspiration behind Whisper Creek Farm.
"From the on-property beehives and in-house butchering and pickling as well as the PRIMO Organic Garden, the JW Marriott Orlando culinary team is continually sourcing ways to maintain sustainability and conservation in our culinary practices. Whisper Creek Farm is a natural evolution of this commitment," explains Grande Lakes Orlando Vice President and Managing Director Jim Burns. "The Harvest Celebration will provide a luxurious yet rustic experience where guests can learn about where their food is sourced and the local Orlando agricultural community."
Grande Lakes Orlando is comprised of The Ritz-Carlton Orlando and JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes, and Whisper Creek Farm is the resort's 7,000-square-foot fruit and vegetable garden with an adjoining 6,000-square-foot outdoor event space and indoor barn. The Harvest Celebration will showcase The Farm's featured on-site method of cookery: asado barbecue, where meats are slow cooked on an open grill, called a parrilla. In addition to produce from Whisper Creek Farm itself, the menu will include ingredients from nearby purveyors Palmetto Creek Farms, Lake Meadow Naturals, My Yard Farm, and King Family Farm.
