Sheryl Crow Talks DINER: THE MUSICAL; Back On Track For Broadway?
Nine-time Grammy Award winner Sheryl Crow offers an update on her newest musical endeavor, penning the score to a Broadway-bound stage musical adaptation of the '80s hit DINER, while appearing in promotion of her new album FEELS LIKE HOME - and it could be arriving on the Great White Way very soon indeed, according to Crow.
As to what element drew Crow to adapting Barry Levinson's DINER to the stage in the first place, Crow says, "There's such an unbelievable legacy that goes along with that movie."
"People are obsessed in a cult way with that movie," Crow asserts.
As for when we can expect to see the show finally arrive on Broadway following a cancelled out of town premiere at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco in 2012, Crow says new producers are in place and they are moving forward with a full production in the very near future.
"We're up and going with new producers and getting it ready to going in previews," Crow states as to the prospects for DINER: THE MUSICAL at this stage of the development.
Additionally, the star reveals that she has a long-held affection for the theatre, recounting that she grew up in a family "[that] knew every show tune ever written."
