SKYFALLs-John-Logan-Sam-Mendes-to-Create-Big-Budget-Drama-for-Showtime-20130111

According to Deadline, SKYFALL's director, Sam Mendes, and its and co-writer, John Logan, have officially signed a deal with Showtime to create a high-concept drama for the network. Following their film's immense international success, the project has reportedly received a straight-to-series order.

The duo originally pitched the big-budget series to premium cable network in November, and after HOMELAND's critical success, Showtime was eager to jump on board. The unnamed drama, which the site reports has "undergone some tweaking," is a psychological horror series set in 1800s, with literary ties, including Dr. Frankenstein and his infamous monster. Logan and Mendes will both serve as executive producers, and Mendes is also believed to be finalizing a deal to direct the pilot.

The project marks both Logan and Mendes' television series debut.

SKYFALL has most recently been nominated for an Oscar, and has officially become the most successful 007 flick of all time, earning over $1 billion globally. Logan has also confirmed that he has signed on to write the next two installments in the franchise, which currently stars Daniel Craig as James Bond.

In SKYFALL, Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory, Ola Rapace and Tonia Sotiropoulou star in the film, which hit international theaters on October 26, domestic IMAX theaters on November 8, and conventional theaters on November 9.
