Matthew Vaughn, the acclaimed director behind KICK-ASS and X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, has officially signed on to produce Fox's upcoming FANTASTIC FOUR reboot. The news came today via Mark Millar, the infamous comic book writer who Fox hired in 2012 to oversee its upcoming Marvel Comics films.
Today, Millar Tweeted: "Just off the phone with Fox and some excellent news - Matthew Vaughn is producing Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot!"
As of now, the film is set for a Spring 2015 release.
According to Marvel, "The Fantastic Four is an internationally-renowned group of superhuman champions (often dubbed the world's premiere super hero team or the first family of super heroes) based in New York City and dedicated to the betterment of the world through scientific discovery and defense against evil."
The Fantastic Four are a long-time hot Marvel commodity. Fox has developed two films based upon them, including 2005's FANTASTIC FOUR and 2007's FANTASTIC 4: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER. The films starred Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chicklis.
