Eva Green, best known for playing 'Vesper Lynd' in CASINO ROYALE, has landed the titular role in SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR.
Green will play 'dame' Ava Lord in Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's follow-up to the stylized noir flick SIN CITY, the duo announced today.
"We've been wanting to tell this story for a very long time," Rodriguez and Miller said in a statement. "Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us."
Angelina Jolie had originally signed on for the role years ago, but after multiple delays, the actress eventually walked away from the project.
The sequel will be filmed using the latest 3D technology, which Rodriguez believes will offer audiences a thrill-a-minute experience. "We're really playing with stuff because that's a very two dimensional world and to see that stylization in 3D, it'll blow people's minds. 3D hasn't been used like this yet."
In the sequel, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight downhill. The story takes place prior to "The Big Fat Kill" and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face. The film will blend two of Miller's classic stories with new tales in which the town's most hardened citizens meet up with some of its more repulsive inhabitants.
SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR is set for an October 4, 2013 theatrical release.
