Despite Rumors, Katee Sackhoff Will Not Appear in AVENGERS 2 as Ms. Marvel
Despite months of rumors, former BATTLESTAR GALACTICA actress Katee Sackhoff will not be teaming up with The Avengers in their next outing.
Fans have campaigned for Sackhoff to don the guise of Captain Marvel, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, a.k.a. Carol Danvers, since rumors of the character's appearance in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON began to circulate.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Sackhoff herself has expressed interest in the role, and recently tweeted that she had begun work on "a super secret job," sending Marvel and BSG fans into a bit of a frenzy.
But Now, Sackhoff has finally opened up about whether or not she's involved in Joss Whedon's follow-up AVENGERS film. She tells Vulture: "At this moment, I have not sat down with anybody from Marvel for any role specifically...[that] doesn't necessarily mean that something with Marvel is completely off the table in the future." She went on to add that, "Any time I can play a strong female lead that's a role model, it's a good day."
Whedon will direct the highly-anticipated sequel starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, James Spader, Cobie Smulders, Thomas Kretschmann and Paul Bettany.
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
