Official: iPhone 5 is DEAD; Apple to Replace with iPhone 5C on the Low End; Prices - Details & More!
Apple, iPhone 5s, Big Screen
Apple has just announced that unlike in past years, they're NOT lowering the price of the current iPhone while introducing the new one, they're instead replacing it entirely.
That means the iPhone 5 is dead, and will be replaced, as rumoured, by the iPhone 5c.
The device will come in 5 plastic colors including white, green, blue, pink and yellow. The entire back and sides are made from a single part, in muted colors with no visible seams, lines or joins. They look .... colorful.
All 5 do have a black front, which makes it look like a plastic iPhone 5, or perhaps one with a case. In fact, the company will offer soft silicon rubber cases to make them even brighter (or something like that).
And, the iOS software will match the color of the device, so your background can match your phone. If that's something you've always wanted.
They will feature an A6 processor, just like the iPhone 5, with a slightly larger battery and the same retina display, 8 megapixel iSight camera, IR filter, five-element lens, etc. that we've come to know in the current iPhone 5, just slightly larger.
In good news, it will get an upgraded front facing 1.9u pixels HD Facetime camera.
The prices? $99 for 16GB, $199 for 32 GB with a two year contract of course. Cases? $29.
