New SoundHound Feature Allows Android Users to Explore Roots of Discovered Music SoundHound Inc., the revolutionary sound search company, has launched a new feature for users of the SoundHound mobile application on Android devices called "The DNA of Music Project" that will offer fans the option to dive deeper into their music discovery. The feature is made possible through a partnership with WhoSampled, the world's largest database of information about sample-based music, cover songs and remixes.

When an Android user SoundHound's a song, the results page will now include the option to tap to see the tracks from which the song was sampled, remixed or covered.

"Remixing and sampling has grown in popularity over the years in all genres of music from contemporary to urban," said James Hom, Vice President of Products for SoundHound. "Working with WhoSampled's data to power the 'DNA of Music Project' gives our fans the opportunity to delve deeper by exploring the roots of the song they have just discovered."

Remixing and sampling continues to remain a popular and lucrative way for artists to get airtime and increase sales. For example, Kelly Clarkson's track, 'People Like Us,' was remixed several different ways to appeal to different audiences and ultimately drove the single to the top of Billboard's Dance/Club chart in June.

For SoundHound, the new feature represents yet another opportunity for the user to deeply engage with the highly popular app and explore new music. SoundHound is one of the most frequently downloaded apps from Apple's App Store, Android's Google Play, the Windows Phone Market and BlackBerry World.

"SoundHound has successfully attracted new users around the world and we have kept those users engaged by consistently introducing new features that make people want to spend time within the app experience," Hom continued.

The "DNA of Music Project" will initially be available to Android users in the US only. SoundHound expects to extend availability of the feature to other regions and platforms in the months ahead.

The SoundHound app is available for free from the App Store on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, or at http://bit.ly/SoundHoundiTunes. On Android devices, SoundHound is available at http://bit.ly/SoundHoundPlayStore. Windows Phone users can download SoundHound at http://bit.ly/SoundHoundWindowsPhone.
