J.Crew's First London Store Opens This Week
This week, J.Crew's highly anticipated first of three UK stores will open. The brand will debut its men's store on Thursday, October 10 at Lamb's Conduit Street in central London. The Regent Street flagship will open shortly after on November 1. Retail Week explained, this side-street location will allow J.Crew to "rub shoulders with several men's fashion indies and to imbue the brand with semi-cult status."
"I love that every neighborhood throughout London has its own unique personality-it's a lot like New York City in that way," J.Crew CEO Mickey Drexler told the Telegraph about the easy decision to head across the pond.
Earlier this year J.Crew teased London shoppers with a pop-up store in King's Cross. President and executive creative director Jenna Lyons was in London to celebrate the shop's launch and told WWD, "We're looking at opening more stores here eventually but nothing is certain at this stage. We've flown over a few staff for this, just a few of the personal shoppers who work with shoppers on styling. It's such a big thing these days, shoppers want more than just product, they want an added level of service and we go that extra mile; we got a letter the other day from a woman who was so happy that someone in store had remembered her name."
