Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci Designing Costumes for Spring Ballet

WWD reported that Givenchy's couturier, Riccardo Tisci, is going to design the costumes for the much anticipate and cutting-edge ballet at the Opéra de Paris. "Boléro" premieres on May 2 with costumes by Tisci and set design by Marina Abramovic.

The ballet is based on the famous music piece by Maurice Ravel, commissioned in the Twenties for Russian ballerina Ida Rubinstein and choreographed by Belgians Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet. "Boléro" is one of four short ballets on the program, also featuring choreography by Maurice Béjart, Vaslav Nijinski and Jerome Robbins.

Details about Tisci's costumes have yet to be revealed, but they are said to be heavily embroidered and true to his flamboyant style.
