Special Olympics and Pop-Up Exhibits Featuring Artists with Disabilities Open Today at Morris Museum
Morristown, NJ -- Today, July 17 from 6:00-8:00 PM, the Morris Museum will host an Opening Reception in celebration of two incredible exhibitions.
Portrait of an Athlete: Special Olympics of New Jersey highlights the accomplishments of New Jersey Special Olympic Athletes through portraits by New Jersey photographer Pete Byron, which has travelled the state to capture the athletes during practice, competition, or just being themselves.
Also opening today, July 17 is a Pop-Up exhibit that showcases fine art created by artists with disabilities. In the exhibition, the Morris Museum is honored to highlight artists from the JSDD's Wae Center, a holistic, creative arts learning center for people with disabilities. More than 24 works will be featured. The Opening Reception on July 17 is FREE and Open to the Public.
About the Morris Museum - Founded in 1913, the Morris Museum is an award-winning, community-based arts and cultural institution which serves the public through high caliber exhibitions in the arts, sciences and humanities. The Morris Museum is a Blue Star Museum, offering free admission to active duty military personnel and their families, from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
The Museum is located at 6 Normandy Heights Road (at the corner of Columbia Turnpike) in Morristown, NJ, and is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 11:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday, 12:00 to 5:00pm. In addition, the Museum is open evenings from 5:00 to 8:00pm on the second and third Thursday of the month. Admission to the museum is $10 for adults and $7 for children, students and senior citizens. Admission is always free for Museum members and is free to the public every second and third Thursday of the month between 4:00 and 8:00pm.
