LANCASTER, Pa., Aug. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ AIGA medalist Gail Anderson and agency partner Joe Newton designed "Create Influence," a 60-foot long sculpture recently installed in the Art Garden on the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design campus in downtown Lancaster.

This unique artwork was commissioned by Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCA&D) and will be dedicated in a public event on Tuesday, September 2 at 1 p.m.

"Anderson and Newton's installation in our Art Garden is part of the plan to clearly identify our college campus," explained PCA&D President Mary Colleen Heil. "Creating influence is at the core of what art is about, what PCA&D is about and what the City of Lancaster is about. We share a deep history that supports a cutting-edge arts scene and a spirit of entrepreneurship."

"Create Influence" features Moki typography and lenticular imagery to craft a sculptural piece that, when viewed from different perspectives, proclaim "create" and "influence." See images of this artwork at pcad.edu/news.

Designed by New York City-based Anderson Newton Design, the concept for the installation emerged after Gail Anderson visited PCA&D and conducted a listening tour with staff, faculty and students. Anderson, a nationally acclaimed designer and recipient of the 2008 AIGA Medal, the most distinguished national award in the field of design, was impressed with PCA&D's students, faculty, curriculum and the institution's strategic plan. In conversation with PCA&D President Mary Colleen Heil, Anderson observed, "What you really do here is create influence." And the concept was born.

Pennsylvania College of Art & Design is a private, fully-accredited college thriving in Lancaster, a small city of 55,000 surrounded by farmland tilled by an internationally-known sect of Amish farmers. PCA&D offers four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees, year-round continuing education classes for students of all ages, and exhibitions, programs and events open to the public.
