Leslie Brill's LA PORTA BLU AND OTHER WORK to Open at Blue Mountain Gallery, 9/2
In her fifth solo show with Blue Mountain Gallery, Leslie K. Brill features large acrylic paintings with figures that dramatically emerge from and retreat into the surface of the paper. Some were created during her stays in Rome at the Porta Blu Studio, and others in her Ithaca studio.
Brill also brings to the show many of her paintings of trees, realized through energetic marks of color which combine together to create her unique view of the forest, from close range and from afar.
Brill divides her time between Brooklyn, Ithaca, and sometimes Rome. She holds an MFA in Painting from Ohio State University and a BFA from Cornell University. Her work has been show in galleries in Manhattan, Brooklyn, upstate NY, and Ohio since the 1970s.
