Jena Thomas Opens Solo Exhibition at Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery Today

Stamford, CT -- Jena Thomas' exhibition will hold its opening reception at the Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery, 96 Bedford Street, Stamford, Conn., today, February 21st, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Recently selected out of 750 applicants for New American Painting's MFA Annual, Jena Thomas continues to receive accolades and recognition for her art as she prepares to finish her studies at the University of Miami.

Thomas's work offers ethereal and somewhat strange landscapes that explore the ways in which man alters the natural world. Constructs such as pools, patios, and train tracks that serve as visceral boundary lines between the fabricated and the organic, feature prominently in her work. Soft colors invoke a dusk light sensation, depicting the world in that liminal stage between light and darkness. It is that nearly supernatural glow that fabricates a "luscious otherworld that is teeming with weird individuality."
