Worland joined the New York Road Runners Team for Kids charity which aims to fund youth running programs throughout the five boroughs. The marathon is a 26.2-mile course and Worland hopes to lose at least 90 pounds through training. He also plans to document his journey for his Foxtel A&E channel in Australia.
Jackman, who works hard to stay fit for his Wolverine role, wants his friend to lose weight for health reasons. He has offered to cheer Worland along during the course and to greet him at the finish line if his filming schedule allows.
Jackman was recently seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Other upcoming big screen projects include The Greatest Showman on Earth. Other films include The Wolverine and the Oscar-nominated movie adaptation of Les Miserables.
Jackman has appeared on Broadway in Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, A Steady Rain and The Boy From Oz -- for which he won the 2004 Tony Award -- as well as off-Broadway's Carousel. In 2012, Jackman was honored with a Tony Award Special Award for Extraordinary Contribution to the Theatre Community.
