FROZEN's 'Let It Go' Performed By Idina Menzel Cracks Billboard Top 10!
The soundtrack for Disney's hit animated feature film musical FROZEN is looking likely to become the very first album of the 2014 calendar year to claim 1 million units sold according to a new report and the lead single, "Let It Go" has now cracked the topmost echelon of the Billboard charts, as well, currently at #9 of the Top 100.
While the FROZEN soundtrack may no longer be topping the Billboard charts, it still holds strong at #3 this week, selling 100,000 units, while "Let It Go" appears for the first time in the Top 10.
Of note, FROZEN has already surpassed the million-mark in total albums sold, with 1.3 million all together, but the first few weeks of sales were in 2013 so the new tally counts only the weeks so far in 2014.
Currently, FROZEN has sold 994,000 copies in 2014.
The official synopsis for FROZEN is as follows: "Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey-teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven-to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf (voice of Josh Gad), Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom."
FROZEN is directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, with a screenplay by Jennifer Lee and Shane Morris based on the Hans Christian Andersen story THE SNOW QUEEN. FROZEN stars the voice talents of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Santino Fontana, Josh Gad and more.
FROZEN was released in the US on November 27 and is currently in theaters nationwide.
