The two one-acts by the widely-produced late playwright James McLure give a flavorful slice of life in rural Texas. Now in its 13th season, the celebrated regional theater company has been named 'Best Theatre Company' by the Dallas Observer. Their productions are regularly selected in the 'Top 10 Shows of the Year' from the Dallas Voice. Beginning July 5th, 2014, new cast mates will join the cast of "My Big Gay Italian Wedding" as it sets to continue its run every Saturday night at 8pm at St. Luke's Theatre through September 27th. "My Big Gay Italian Funeral," now in its second year, is also set to continue at St. Luke's Theatre every Sunday at 7pm through September 28th with cast changes as well.

After a sold-out run in the Theatre's Thrust Stage last fall, Berkeley Repertory Theatre proudly announces that The Pianist of Willesden Lane, starring internationally acclaimed pianist Mona Golabek, will make its off-Broadway debut at 59E59 Theaters July 7 - August 24, 2014. Golabek's unforgettable, musically infused performance was one of the biggest hits in the Theatre's history, selling out virtually all 52 performances of its originally scheduled engagement and all 29 performances of its extension. Its record-breaking run landed The Pianist of Willesden Lane as one of 10 shows in the last 25 years of the Theatre's history to draw more than 30,000 patrons. The Pianist of Willesden Laneis the 29th show the Theatre has helped send to New York in the last 27 years.

Movie Mondays 2014 kicks off with the heartwarming 1935 classic The Little Colonel, starring Shirley Temple. From post Civil War America we head to 1990s London with the sparkling Spice Girls starring in the jet set musical, Spice World. Then it is off to turn-of-the-20th century Paris with the Academy Award®-winning musical Gigi, directed by Vincente Minnelli and featuring some of the most memorable Lerner & Loewe tunes. Continuing with the winner of this year's Audience Favorite Fan Poll, Cabaret, starring Oscar winners Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey. Shirley MacLaine as the eternal optimist in Sweet Charity wraps up the summer film series. Center audiences will have a chance to see MacLaine live when she makes her Center debut on September 20 in her one-woman show.

Houston Grand Opera's U.S. premiere of Mieczyslaw Weinberg's The Passenger- the long-suppressed Holocaust opera that Shostakovich declared "a perfect masterpiece"- earned virtually universal acclaim earlier this year. The Chicago Tribune declared The Passenger to be an "engrossing, thought-provoking experience," while the Houston Chronicle praised the presentation for "ingenious storytelling, potent music, commanding performances and vivid, fast-paced staging." Now HGO brings the David Pountney production of The Passenger for its New York premiere in three performances- July 10, 12, 13 -at the Park Avenue Armory as part of the 2014 Lincoln Center Festival. Pountney's staging was inspired, in part, by the soaring space of Park Avenue Armory's massive Wade Thompson Drill Hall, where he producEd Zimmerman'sDie Soldaten for Lincoln Center Festival in 2008. HGO artistic and Music Director Patrick Summers will conduct the HGO Orchestra and Chorus; reviewing the Houston performances, the Wall Street Journal praised Summers for the way he "shaped the evening with enormous care." The Dallas Morning News commended all the singers - headed by mezzo-soprano Michelle Breedt in the title role - by saying: "Top to bottom, the cast is excellent."
