On February 22, our year-long Britten 100/LA celebration culminates with the opening of Billy Budd. This powerful tale of innocence and betrayal on the high seas based on Herman Melville's classic American novella features baritone Liam Bonner leading an all-male cast, including tenor Richard Croft as Captain Vere and bass Greer Grimsley making his LA Opera debut as Claggart, the master-at-arms maddened by Billy's goodness and beauty.

The star-studded list of Broadway stars and A-list cabaret performers keeps growing for the 2013 BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards Show, to be staged at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street near Astor Place in Manhattan) on February 23 from 6:30-8:40 pm. Added to a stellar group that includes Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz Callaway, Terri White, Jane Monheit and Jason Robert Brown, are Tony Award Winner (now also a cabaret performer) Alice Ripley (photo left), who will perform representing Sondheim Unplugged at 54 Below, which won the BWW Cabaret Award for Best Variety Show or Recurring Series. Broadway favorite Jackie Hoffman (Hairspray, Xanadu, Adams Family) will appear to perform and accept her BWW Award for Best Musical Comedy Performance for her show at 54 Below.

The Baroque pastiche The Enchanted Island, a hit when it premiered at the Met in 2011, returns for its first revival on February 26. New cast members Susan Graham (Sycorax) and Andriana Chuchman (Miranda) join many of the principal singers who appeared in the work's world premiere: David Daniels as Prospero, Placido Domingo as Neptune, Danielle De Niese as Ariel, Anthony Roth Costanzo as Ferdinand, and Luca Pisaroni as Caliban. The four mismatched Athenian lovers will be sung by Elizabeth DeShong, who sang Hermia in the world premiere, joined by new cast members Janai Brugger (Helena), Andrew Stenson (Demetrius), and Nicholas Pallesen (Lysander) completing the quartet of Athenian lovers.

Actors Orlando Bloom, Robert Sean Leonard, Joe Morton, and Condola Rashad will perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall in the LA Phil's Shakespeare-themed TchaikovskyFest concert led by Music Director Gustavo Dudamel with the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, Wednesday, February 26 at 8 p.m. The program (presented without intermission) features Tchaikovsky's three Fantasy-Overtures inspired by Shakespeare plays - Hamlet, The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet. Preceding each of the fantasy-overtures, the cast of actors will perform key scenes from each play, with Orlando Bloom as Romeo, Joe Morton as Prospero, and Condola Rashad as Juliet. Kate Burton, the prolific Tony-nominated stage and screen actress and daughter of the late Richard Burton, directs this all-star cast.

David Arquette (Scream) and Gloria Reuben (Lincoln) star in the Lifetime Original Movie Happy Face Killer, premiering Saturday, March 1, at 8pm ET/PT. The movie follows the grisly true-crime story of a truck driver who, during his work travels across the country, kills numerous women and hauntingly leaves a confession of each murder with a scrawled happy face as cryptic evidence of his crime. Reuben portrays Melinda Gand, the FBI investigator leading the case.

Anthony Kearns, world-renowned tenor and founding member of The Irish Tenors, will perform during a reception and tribute to U.S. military and their families on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, Va. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and benefit two leading charitable organizations for America's wounded military service members, veterans and their families - Boulder Crest Retreat for Military and Veteran Wellness and the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes. Mr. Kearns will perform at approximately 6:30 p.m.
