The Boston Conservatory will hold its annual gala and auction Sunday, March 9, 2014. An Evening Celebrating Sondheim will include a special, one-night-only production of some of Stephen Sondheim's greatest hits, a lively cocktail reception and a silent auction. All proceeds raised during the event will go toward scholarship assistance for the Conservatory's talented students.

The gala will begin at The Boston Conservatory Theater at 31 Hemenway Street, where Conservatory musical theater students, guest faculty and alumni will perform a Sondheim review. Selections include Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods and Sunday in in the Park with George. Among the special guests performing are Tony Award nominee Maureen Brennan, who has an extensive background on and off Broadway and in film; Laura Marie Duncan (B.F.A. '94, musical theater), who has numerous stage credits both on and off Broadway; Tony Award nominee Chad Kimball (B.F.A. '99, musical theater); and alumna Karen Murphy (B.F.A. '77, musical theater), who has also appeared in several shows on and off Broadway.

"We are thrilled to be able to showcase some of our many successful graduates alongside our current, highly talented students and outstanding faculty," says Richard Ortner, president of The Boston Conservatory. "This evening promises to be both entertaining and incredibly rewarding, as we raise money to support the next generation of performers."

Following the performance, a cocktail reception and silent auction will take place at the Harvard Club of Boston, followed by a three-course, gourmet dinner in Harvard Hall. Transportation from the theater to the Harvard Club will be provided for all guests.

An Evening Celebrating Sondheim is Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets start at $200 for the performance and cocktail reception only. Tickets for the performance, reception and dinner begin at $500 with several options for higher-level sponsorship tickets, many of which come with sponsorship recognition, complimentary parking at the Harvard Club, VIP seating and more.
