Angela Lansbury Reacts To Being Named A Dame & Looks Ahead To BLITHE SPIRIT
Iconic stage and screen performer Angela Lansbury reacts to her overdue royal appointment by Queen Elizabeth II, receiving a DBE, thereby making her a dame in title at long, long last.
The star shares, "Well, I guess I've always been a dame. But, in this instance - this is a very special honor, to be named a dame."
Lansbury also says, "I am joining a marvelous group of women who I really admire - Judi Dench; Maggie Smith, dear friend from movie days - and it's a lovely thing to be recognized and given that nod of approval by your own country."
"I really cherish it," Lansbury asserts.
Nevertheless, "It doesn't change anything about the way that I feel - you know, I will still be the same silly ass that I have always been all my life and jusT Loving being an actress," Lansbury humbly opines.
Lansbury also adds of her future plans as part of a highly anticipated Noel Coward West End revival, "The fact that I am coming back to London to play Madame Arcati in BLITHE SPIRIT is a most exciting venture. I know people look at me and say, 'How can you be doing that at your age?' Well, I don't feel any age - I feel terrific and I just want to go on working as long as I can."
Certainly most would agree: please do, Dame Lansbury - for our continued pleasure and joy!
