Arena Stage To Host High-Capacity COVID-19 Vaccination Site

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater has partnered with DC Health and MedStar Health to announce the opening of an additional high-capacity vaccination site in an effort to vaccinate as many residents as possible against COVID-19. The site will open on Friday, April 9 and operate Thursdays – Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

BWW News: Updated “Booster” Survey Finds DC Area Theatergoers Still Slow to Return to Local Theaters Despite Significant Increase in Vaccinations

Limelight Insights by Shugoll, a national marketing research company in Rockville, Maryland, conducted an online survey with 1,259 DC area theatergoers from March 25-29 on their intent to return to theaters. This is the fourth wave of this study for DC that has been tracking these issues since the pandemic began. This special “booster” survey was conducted because the previous wave in February was during a time of slow vaccine rollout and concerns about variants. Six weeks later, there are many more shots in arms and the project team wanted to see how that changed intent to return to local theaters.

Solas Nua, the Washington D.C.-based contemporary Irish arts organization, has appointed Rex Daugherty as its full time Artistic Director of Theatre. This is a senior full-time position with responsibility for the leadership and management of the theatre program of Solas Nua. Mr. Daugherty, originally from Oklahoma City, has been an active member of Washington’s robust theatre scene for the past thirteen years. He became a company member with Solas Nua in 2008 during their sold-out, Off-Broadway run of Disco Pigs, and has been acting as theatre artistic director on a part-time basis since 2015.
