Peter Pan, like its namesake, is a tale which never ages. Children and adults alike have all fallen under the spell of Neverland, a place where children can fly and exciting, frightening adventures happen every day.

In 1985 Piers Chater Robinson adapted J.M. Barrie's book for the stage, and now, 25 years later, his innovative Peter Pan musical score is well known and loved, performed in professional and amateur productions worldwide and is quickly becoming the most popular musical version of Peter Pan internationally. CYT is pleased to be selected as one of the first theaters in Chicagoland to produce it!

The 2018 UK tour opens on 30 March at The Broadway, Peterborough, visiting a further 30 venues nationwide, followed by a 4-week summer season at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in London (14 August - 9 September 2018). The production, based on the book The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, is adapted for the stage by David Greig (Artistic Director of the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company; recent work: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Cover My Tracks) with music and lyrics written by Charlie Fink (Frontman/songwriter for the hit musical group, Noah and the Whale (2007-2015). Who has never dreamed of imprisoning time, being eternally a child? The desires of Peter Pan populate the collective unconscious and follow as one of the great longings of humanity. No wonder, the fable of the boy who refused to grow up, created by J. M. Berrie, is more and more current. This classic became a reference in literature, in the cinema and also in the theater. The Broadway version of 'Peter Pan' will finally win a Brazilian staging, with Mateus Ribeiro in the title role and Daniel Boaventura as Captain Hook. The show directed by Jose Possi Neto and choreographed by Alonso Barros, premiered on March 8, at the Teatro Alfa, in a production of Touche Entertainment and coproduction of Daniel Boaventura. Previews begin this Friday, March 16 for the Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) world premiere production of THIS FLAT EARTH, a new play by Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bone, the current Amy and the Orphans).  Directed by Tony Award winner Rebecca Taichman (Familiar, Stage Kiss, Milk Like Sugar at Playwrights; Indecent), the play is the fourth production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.   (more...)
