Hillbarn Theatre Conservatory Announces 2019 Summerstage Lineup

Conservatory Directory Randy O'Hara announced today the shows that will comprise Hillbarn Theatre Conservatory's 2019 SummerStage season. Youth actors will star in 101 Dalmatians, Spamalot Young @Part, and Spring Awakening. All performances will be held at Hillbarn Theatre, (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd. Foster City). New Plays & Musicals Unveiled At TheatreWorks's NEW WORKS FESTIVAL

Lovers of new theatre will gather this August for an advance look at tomorrow's hits at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's 2019 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre. This unique festival offers audiences an extraordinary opportunity to experience new plays and musicals in their early stages of development, and hear about the creative process in a "Meet the Artists" panel discussion. With multiple performances of each work, playwrights and composers are able to revise and refine their shows during the festival, allowing audiences to view the exciting evolution of brand new pieces of theatre. The popular festival runs August 9 - 18, 2019 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Rd., Palo Alto. Berkeley Rep Extends KISS MY AZTEC

Due to demand, Berkeley Rep has announced that the world premiere musical of Kiss My Aztec! will extend for an additional week of performances. The high-energy show directed by Artistic Director Tony Taccone and co-written by Taccone and John Leguizamo was originally scheduled to close on July 14, but will now run through Sunday, July 21.

Opening in previews, Friday, September 20 at the Joe Goode Annex, Dionysus Was Such a Nice Man is a comic and pungent take on the story of Oedipus from the perspective of the family of shepherds who raised him. 2019 Marin County Fair, Over the Moon! kicks off in high gear this summer offering spectacular fun for five days and providing something for everyone. The 2019 fair will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing as well as the things Marin County values the most: family, art, agriculture, and the environment. The Fair opens on WEDNESDAY, JULY 3RD and runs through SUNDAY, JULY 7TH.  Ticket prices range from $15 - $20 and are available online and at the entrance. A small service fee applies. On the plus side, it's refreshing to see a show created largely by women that focuses on strong female characters. On the minus side, the show requires a high tolerance for groan-inducing jokes and song lyrics that make no sense when shoehorned into an alien context.
