Young Women’s Choral Projects of San Francisco (YWCP) will kick-off its 10th anniversary season with two holiday performances in December. Led by Founding Director Susan McMane, YWCP will present its annual Carols by Candlelight, as part of the Old First Concert Series on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 4 p.m. PST. The candle-lit concert will feature the premier ensemble Young Women’s Chorus, performing Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols with harpist Chloe Tula, as well as music by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Javier Busto, Christine Donkin, Randall Thompson and many contemporary settings of traditional carols. This popular annual concert has become a holiday tradition for many San Franciscans.

There's a brief appearance by a group of protest sign carrying suffragettes during a street scene in this Lincoln Center 2018 revival of Lerner and Loewe's classic musical My Fair Lady, and it may be the only bridge between this distinctly old-fashioned early 20th century Edwardian perspective and today's post-feminist world. This revival, nominated for 10 Tony Awards and directed by award winning director Bartlett Sher is a beautiful looking opportunity to experience one of musical theatre's greatest chestnuts.

This past September, I got a new job working in the front of the house at The La Jolla Playhouse. My job title, Audience Concierge, includes many patron services responsibilities including checking vaccine cards/ID upon entering the theatre, ticket scanning, helping ushers, being available in the lobby during the show, and locking up. Working in the front of the house has given me lots of insight into what working in a professional environment is like while also teaching me about another aspect of theatre that I did not know much about coming into the job.
