THE LAST SESSION, one of Off-Broadway's most beloved musicals, with an award winning score by Steve Schalchlin, with additional lyrics by Marie Cain, and a book by Jim Brochu, will return to New York City at Feinstein's/54 Below on Thursday, May 16that 7:00pm for one performance only.
Artist Series Concerts Celebrates Mother's Day with AN AFTERNOON OF OPERETTA

Artist Series Concerts celebrates Mother's Day and closes out its 23rd season with "An Afternoon of Operetta," Sunday, May 12, 4:00 p.m. at the Sarasota Opera House, 61 N. Pineapple Ave., Sarasota. Soloists Emily Martin, Stacey Rishoi, Mark Lubas, Luis Gonzalez and Garrett Obrycki are joined by singers from Choral Artists of Sarasota for a program showcasing highlights of popular operettas, including Offenbach's "Can-Can" and "Barcarolle," von Suppe's "Poet and Peasant" overture and much more. The performance also features a condensed concert version of Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance" that includes "Poor Wandering One," "The Pirate King," "The Modern Major General" and others. Joseph Holt takes to the keyboards for the production, joined by Daniel Jordan, violin, Samantha Bennett, violin, Steven Laraia, viola and Natalie Helm, cello, all principal musicians with the Sarasota Orchestra. A post-concert reception with the artists will be held immediately after the performance on the second floor of the Opera House. Tickets for the concert are $20 - $55. Ticket for the reception are $35 and include an open bar and hors d'oeuvres. All tickets are available online at www.artistseriesconcerts.org or by calling 941-306-1202, Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Student tickets for the concert, priced at $10, are available with current student ID at the door.

Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota's annual fundraiser gala, "With Eyes to the Future," is Thursday, April 11, 6 p.m., at Michael's On East Ballroom, 1212 South East Avenue, Sarasota. The event, produced by Artist Series Concerts FRIENDS, the volunteer arm of Artist Series Concerts, features live music by the Bill Buchman Trio plus center-stage performances by Suncoast Music Scholarship winners Katherine Herbert and Luca Stine.

Town Hall presents Broadway Rising Stars, a national showcase that introduces New York audiences to the next generation of up-and-coming talent as chosen by a panel of discerning judges from among the most outstanding new graduates from schools such as the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, CAP21, Circle in the Square Theatre School, Marymount Manhattan College, The New School, NYU's Steinhardt Department of Music and Performing Arts, NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and other acclaimed institutions. The 2018 Rising Stars is spearheaded by Scott Siegel, creator/writer/host of Town Hall's beloved Broadway by the Year series.

Shakespeare's light-hearted comedy about societal hierarchies and the power of love to bring them down comes to the stage at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre. In their annual tribute to The Bard, Shakespeare '70 presents "The Merry Wives of Windsor" Fridays, June 22 and 29 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, June 23 and June 30 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, June 24 and July 1 at 2 p.m.

MY QUEER YOUTH Opens in November Philipstown Depot Theatre

The Philipstown The Philipstown Depot Theatre is pleased to present Phil Geoffrey Bond's My Queer Youth on Saturday, November 18 at 8pm. My Queer Youth, a hit at off-Broadway's Laurie Beechman Theatre in 2010, is being revived for this special one-night-only performance on the banks of the Hudson River. Featuring music by some of the greatest songwriters of the past century, the evening is intermingled with spoken text by Bond about growing up different amongst the cornfields of southern Indiana.
Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota Receives Grants for Education Outreach Initiatives and Programming

John Fischer, managing director of Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota, announced that organization was recently recognized for its education outreach initiatives with two significant grants. The Huisking Family Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County awarded Artist Series Concerts $1,000 and the John J. Weiss Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County awarded the organization $3,500 to be used for its educational programs.
