The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals will take place in person in New York City for the first time since 2019 at Theatre Row on Monday, July 25th. Tickets for The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals 2022 performance will be offered exclusively through a lottery system.

Next up at The Wallis, a radical reinvention of Shakespeare’s King Lear, starring Joe Morton in the titular role opens May 14, 2022 (with previews beginning May 10th). John Gould Rubin directs the cast which also includes Mark Harelik, River Gallo, Zach Solomon, Brie Eley, Emily Swallow, Rafael Jordan, Miguel Perez, Stanley Jackson, and Danielle Thorpe. Today, The 24 Hour Plays announced that the 10th annual application for The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals will be available starting March 24, 2021 and will run through April 11, 2021. The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals will take place virtually (for the second year in a row) and applicants from everywhere are engaged to apply. 

Following its debut on May 6, 2020, The Homebound Project has announced the lineup for a surprise sixth edition airing January 13–17, 2021. Co-creators Catya McMullen and Jenna Worsham, along with their all-volunteer team, have also announced that this online theater initiative brought together 137 artists, and premiered 56 new theater works.

The Homebound Project has announced the lineup for its fifth and final edition of new online theater benefiting hungry children affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Co-creators Catya McMullen and Jenna Worsham, along with their all-volunteer team, have also announced that over $100,000 has been raised to date for No Kid Hungry.

Tonight, in celebration of Off- and Off-Off Broadway theater, the American Theatre Wing and The Village Voice honored the recipients of the 65th Annual Obie Awards.
