PEAK Performances at Montclair State University is producing two opera-in-concert performances of Blind Injustice, composed by Montclair State University College of the Arts faculty member Scott Davenport Richards (A Star Across the Ocean, Charlie Crosses the Nation) with a libretto by David Cote (Three Way, The Scarlet Ibis).

Modeled after Prine’s 1935 Wurlitzer Jukebox, it features the eight singles Prine released throughout his career on Oh Boy Records packaged in their original artwork as well as working lights that illuminate the jukebox, a booklet with a forward written by Jim Rooney, two “Handsome Johnny” jukebox coins, a vintage Oh Boy Records catalogue and more.

It is a brave artist indeed who tries to capture the complex nature of the career of Carly Simon. That is the task that Marnie Klar sets for herself in her show MARNIE KLAR SINGS CARLY SIMON, which had an encore performance Monday evening at Don’t Tell Mama. It is clear that Ms. Klar has great respect for Carly Simon and possesses a great deal of knowledge about how her songs came to be. Like Simon, she is quite a beauty and has a great dexterity with language. She also shares with Simon a wide emotional range.
Chandler Center For The Arts Hosts Showtime Sunday Matinee Series

Chandler Center for the Arts has announced its 'Showtime Series,' a Sunday matinee concert series of nostalgic music of different eras. The Showime Series is comprised of three concerts including Take It Easy - Songs of the '70s, Country Gals, and Dick Clark's Countdown to the 1950s and 1960s.
