Broadway welcomed another new musical in The Outsiders, which is now officially open at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. BroadwayWorld was there for the big day and you can check out photos from the VIP theatre arrivals here.

The stars aligned on 50th Street as An Enemy of the People celebrated its opening night at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Another theatre has announced their closure, with Cutting Ball in San Francisco becoming the latest to look at their financial situation and decide that there was no viable path forward. We’ll have more coverage here and in our marketing update about the things that are working for theatres that have found a way to thrive in the new normal.

One thing that has been pivotal to theater’s return in New York City is the New York City Musical and Theatrical Production Tax Credit, which is a New York State program, despite what the name might indicate. It was expanded to apply to both Broadway and off-Broadway. I can’t tell you how many producers have told me it was pivotal in getting their shows off the ground.
