Theatre Now will present its annual Astonishing! Gala on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at The Players, 16 Gramercy Park South in New York City. The evening will honor Mindi Dickstein (Little Women), Anna K. Jacobs (Teeth), and Lisa Lambert (The Drowsy Chaperone) in a celebration of Women and Nonbinary Musical Theatre Writers. The gala will also highlight members of Theatre Now’s Musical Writers Lab.

PBS is set to air American Masters – Blake Edwards: A Love Story in 24 Frames nationwide Tuesday, August 27 at 9 p.m. ET. Featuring never-before-seen archival video and stills, the film offers an exploration into the filmmaker’s complex life and genre-spanning career, as shared by filmmakers and family.

Mother/daughter duo Julie Andrews and Emma Walton Hamilton appeared on the CBS Sunday Morning show on April 21 to discusss their new book, Waiting in the Wings. The book, their 35th together, is about a group of theatrical ducks who are eager for their moment in the spotlight. The story was inspired by an experience the pair had at the Bay Street Theatre. Johnson is bringing his Sally Spectre: The Musical back to Theatre West weekends through October 29. A combination horror and morality play, it centers around the ghost of a 5-year-old girl trying to escape from her locked bedroom where she was brutally murdered. But is this musical really for children? To find out, I decided to speak with David P. Johnson who not only wrote the book, music, and lyrics but also directs and co-produces it, and appears onstage accompanying the cast on keyboard during every performance.
