Theatre Now will present its annual Astonishing! Gala on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at The Players, 16 Gramercy Park South in New York City. The evening will honor Mindi Dickstein (Little Women), Anna K. Jacobs (Teeth), and Lisa Lambert (The Drowsy Chaperone) in a celebration of Women and Nonbinary Musical Theatre Writers. The gala will also highlight members of Theatre Now’s Musical Writers Lab.

For its opening night of its 2024 season, the Hollywood Bowl presented a musical celebration of composer Henry Mancini’s 100th Birthday with a concert featuring the Hollywood Bowl orchestra—under the direction of principal conductor Thomas Wilkins and welcomed special guest artists Michael Bublé, Dave Koz, Monica Mancini, and Cynthia Erivo.

Each Halloween Season, many horror and science fiction offerings hit our stages. This year, David P. Johnson is bringing his Sally Spectre: The Musical back to Theatre West weekends through October 29. A combination horror and morality play, it centers around the ghost of a 5-year-old girl trying to escape from her locked bedroom where she was brutally murdered. But is this musical really for children? To find out, I decided to speak with David P. Johnson who not only wrote the book, music, and lyrics but also directs and co-produces it, and appears onstage accompanying the cast on keyboard during every performance.
