Tyler M. Perry Biography

TYLER M. PERRY, an NYC-based lighting and scenic designer, received his BFA in Theatrical Production Arts with concentrations in Lighting and Scenic Design from Ithaca College. Kitchen Theatre Company: Crooked, Opus (Scenic & Lighting Designer); The Motherf**ker with the Hat, The Whipping Man, Frankie and Johnny in... Lune, The Mystery of Irma Vep (Lighting Designer); Broke-ology (Properties Designer). Ithaca College: The Magic Flute (Scenic Designer); The Light in the Piazza, How Learned to Drive (Lighting Designer); among others. Running to Places Theatre Company: Resident Designer 2011-2013. He has also worked extensively as an assistant/associate designer with such companies as Kitchen Theatre Co., Hangar Theatre, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Florida Grand Opera, Mill City Summer Opera, and the Herson Group Ltd. The Axelrod Performing Arts Center presents the musical Grease for three weeks, June 3-19 at the Vogel Auditorium. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the musical’s Broadway opening, this production of Grease is directed and choreographed by Lisa Stevens, whose resume includes the revivals of Chicago on Broadway and the West End and Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 The Musical.

In the wake of canceling the remainder of its 2019-2020 Season, Artistic Director, Greg Longenhagen announces that Florida Repertory Theatre is pioneering new ways to engage with patrons virtually. The latest online offering is a weekly talk back series, Stage@Home, hosted live on Zoom and streamed to Facebook each week. In addition to the talk back series, Florida Rep's Education department is also offering weekly virtual classes for students of all ages.

Performances of Cry It Out begin at the Kitchen Theatre Company in the Percy Browning Performance Space on Sunday, February 2 and will run through Saturday, February 22.
