The National has released a third new track ahead of its upcoming album First Two Pages of Frankenstein. “Eucalyptus” is taut and punchy, having come together in a charmed burst of spontaneity surrounding a visit to the historic Capitol Theatre just north of New York City in Port Chester. The news arrives alongside lead single 'On A Beach (feat Feist)' and its cinematic, star-studded official video, also featuring the inimitable Leslie Feist with cameos by Matt Berninger of The National and beloved actor Steve Buscemi (who Hayden last worked with on the music for Trees Lounge, Buscemi’s 1997 directorial debut).

The National has unveiled “New Order T-Shirt,” the second pre-release track from its ninth studio album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein. Accentuating the album’s layered meditations on the rupturing of connection, “New Order T-Shirt” is a warmly hypnotic track that shifts between singer Matt Berninger’s brightly detailed memories.

Anchored by evocative melodies and an enthralling lyrical narrative, First Two Pages of Frankenstein signals a new chapter in the band’s beloved discography. The 11-song album was produced by The National at Long Pond Studios in upstate New York and features guest appearances by Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers and Sufjan Stevens.

Phoebe Bridgers has released a cover of The Handsome Family’s “So Much Wine” - an addition to her Christmas song catalog. Proceeds from the track will be going to the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The track, produced by Bridgers along with longtime collaborators Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska. Plus, check out upcoming tour dates with Taylor Swift!

The album includes production by Ronboy herself, and Samuel Stewart (Lo Moon, Nightmare and the Cat), along with additional production by Sterling Laws (Lo Moon, Kim Gordon, Matt Berninger, Olivia Rodrigo) who affirmed Ronboy's initial ideas and helped propel the project further.

In their first UK festival performance since before the pandemic, American soft rock quintet The National have shown themselves to be capable of a competent return to form. Their particular brand of soaring choruses is reminiscent of a brooding film soundtrack, and is a perfect fit for the atmospheric surrounds of East London’s Victoria Park.

Johnson (Bonny Light Horseman), Josh Kaufman (Bonny Light Horseman, Hiss Golden Messenger, The National), and keyboardist/producer Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Craig Finn) who also mixed the album.
