Morrissey made her professional acting debut in 2013, appearing as Sheila in the North American tour of Hair. That year, she also appeared in Tamar of the River at the Baruch Performing Arts Center. In 2014, she portrayed Sharon Falconer in Elmer Gantry at Signature Theatre in Virginia and Lizzie Borden in the rock musical Lizzie at Portland Center Stage.
Morrissey joined the national tour of Wicked as the standby for Elphaba in 2015 and assumed the role full time from 2017 to 2018. In 2019, she played Janis Sarkisian on the national tour of Mean Girls, served as a standby in Joan of Arc: Into the Fire, and appeared as Sara in The Disappearing Man.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Morrissey co-founded Double Name Witches, a virtual theater and voice training program with Ginna Claire Mason. She has also taught acting masterclasses and private voice and theater lessons.
In 2023, Morrissey became the standby for Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked before taking over the role full time from 2024 to 2025. She subsequently appeared as Beverly/Annette in Come From Away at Ogunquit Playhouse in 2025 and portrayed Elsa in Paper Mill Playhouse's production of Frozen from 2025 to 2026.
