Kaitlin Hopkins is an American actress, director, and educator known for her work in both theater and television. Born on February 1, 1964, in New York City, Hopkins grew up in Texas and began performing in local theater productions as a child. She went on to study at the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting.
After college, Hopkins moved to New York City to pursue a career in theater. She made her Broadway debut in 1989 in the musical "Noises Off" and went on to appear in several other Broadway productions, including "Anything Goes," "The Will Rogers Follies," and "Bat Boy: The Musical." She also appeared in the national tours of "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Fiddler on the Roof."
In addition to her work on stage, Hopkins has also appeared in a number of films and television shows. She had a recurring role on the TV series "Another World" and has also appeared on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "The Good Wife," and "Blue Bloods." Her film credits include "The Nanny Diaries," "The House Is Burning," and "She's the Man."
Hopkins is also an accomplished director and has directed productions of "A Little Night Music," "The Last Five Years," and "The Great American Trailer Park Musical," among others. She has served as the artistic director of the Texas State University Department of Theatre and Dance and currently teaches at Texas State University and the University of Texas at Austin.
In addition to her work in the entertainment industry, Hopkins is also an advocate for mental health awareness. She has spoken publicly about her own struggles with depression and anxiety and has worked to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness. Hopkins is also a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and has been involved in various fundraising efforts for LGBTQ+ organizations.
Hopkins has received numerous awards and nominations for her work in theater, including a Drama Desk Award nomination for her performance in "Noises Off" and a Helen Hayes Award nomination for her performance in "The Great American Trailer Park Musical."
