Gabrielle Dennis

Dennis has a background in dance, theatre, stand-up comedy and singing. She began her television career as a host and cast member, serving as the main host of Teen Summit from 1998 to 2000. In 2004, she appeared as Girlfriend on The New Detectives, followed by appearances as herself on Minding the Store and as herself and host on Ballin in 2005. In 2006, she appeared as herself and a cast member on The Underground. Her 2007 television credit was Lena on Campus Ladies.

In 2008, Dennis played Janay Brice on The Game, appearing as a recurring cast member from Seasons 2 through 5 between 2008 and 2012. She also appeared as the Mock Trainer's Assistant on Penn & Teller: Bullshit!, Candace on Wizards of Waverly Place and Sassy Black on My Name Is Earl. In 2009, she appeared as herself on Penn & Teller: Bullshit! and played Michelle Hill on Southland. In 2010, she joined the main cast of Blue Mountain State as Denise Roy for Season 1.

Dennis continued with television roles including Nicole Toomin on Franklin & Bash in 2012, Gloria on Justified and Valerie Banks on Baby Daddy in 2014, and Alana Jackson on Bones in 2015. She also appeared as Kelly/Bryn on Born Again Virgin from 2015 to 2016. From 2015 to 2017, she played Pippy Rosewood on Rosewood as a main cast member. Her 2017 credits included appearances as herself on Tia Mowry at Home and as herself and a team captain on Face Value, as well as Jessica Hu on Lady Dynamite. She played Candice Peña on Insecure from 2017 to 2018.

In 2018, Dennis played Tilda Johnson on Luke Cage as part of the show's main cast in Season 2. She also portrayed Whitney Houston in The Bobby Brown Story, appeared as herself and a restaurant patron on Hell's Kitchen, and played Briana Harrelson on S.W.A.T. from 2018 to 2019. In 2019, she appeared as Shannon on Rel and Tina Turner on American Soul. She was also a main cast member on A Black Lady Sketch Show from 2019 to 2023.

From 2021 to 2026, Dennis played Tasha Lewis on The Upshaws. She appeared as Lareesha on All American in 2022. From 2023 to 2024, she starred as Cass on The Big Door Prize, appearing in 20 episodes. In 2026, she joined the main cast of Nemesis as Dr. Candice Stiles.

Dennis's film credits began with the television movie A Mom for Christmas in 1990, in which she played Christmas Box. Her other early film credits included Kyra in the video He Can Get It and Kate in the video The Wickeds in 2004 and Khalil's Wife in the short film Let's Talk in 2006. In 2008, she appeared as Miranda in Drifter, Student in the short film Learning How to Speak and Robert's Wife in After School.

In 2009, Dennis appeared as Girlfriend in Timer, Guidance Counselor in the short film Slinging Mud, Treyvonetta in Bring It On: Fight to the Finish, Tracey in The Marc Pease Experience and Female Fan in Janky Promoters. Her 2011 film credits included Deena in the television movie Holly's Holiday, Chelsea in Politics of Love and Brooke in He's Mine Not Yours. In 2012, she played Bobby Jo in Back Then, followed by Guidance Counselor in Reporting Live and Paula in the television movie What Would You Do for Love in 2013.

Dennis played Morgan in Black Coffee, Serena in the television movie The Fright Night Files and appeared in the short film A Super Secret in 2014. In 2015, she played Carmen in My First Love, for which she was also an executive producer, and Leena in Call Me King. She appeared as herself in Girls Trip in 2017. Her later film credits include Laura in A Madea Homecoming and Wilma Elliot in the voice cast of Wendell & Wild in 2022, and Shayla in One of Them Days in 2025.

Dennis also appeared in commercials for Old Spice with Deon Cole.
