BIO
Dennis Boutsikaris is an American actor who has made a name for himself on both stage and screen. Born on December 21, 1952, in Newark, New Jersey, Boutsikaris grew up in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he received a degree in theatre.
Boutsikaris began his career in the theatre, performing in various Off-Broadway productions throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He made his Broadway debut in 1981 in the play "The Nest of the Wood Grouse," and went on to appear in several other Broadway productions, including "Sight Unseen," "Amadeus," and "Misalliance." Boutsikaris has also worked extensively in regional theatre, performing at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, the Long Wharf Theatre, and the Old Globe Theatre, among others.
In addition to his work on stage, Boutsikaris has also had a successful career in film and television. He has appeared in over 70 films, including "The Dream Team," "Crocodile Dundee II," and "Boys on the Side." Boutsikaris has also made numerous television appearances, including recurring roles on "Better Call Saul," "The Good Wife," and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." He is perhaps best known for his role as Dr. Jonas Salk in the made-for-TV movie "And the Band Played On."
Boutsikaris has also worked extensively as a voice actor, lending his voice to numerous documentaries, audiobooks, and video games. He won a Grammy Award in 2009 for his narration of "Always Looking Up" by Michael J. Fox.
Throughout his career, Boutsikaris has received critical acclaim for his performances. He won an Obie Award in 1985 for his performance in "Sight Unseen," and was nominated for a Tony Award in 1992 for his role in "A Streetcar Named Desire." Boutsikaris has also been nominated for several Emmy Awards for his work on television.
In recent years, Boutsikaris has continued to work in both theatre and film. He appeared in the 2018 film "The Seagull," and in 2019 he starred in the Off-Broadway production of "Make Believe" at the Second Stage Theatre. Boutsikaris also continues to work as a voice actor, most recently lending his voice to the video game "The Last of Us Part II."
